The half yearly meeting of the PROMOTioN project is taking place today in Stockholm. PROMOTioN is a new EU project to boost the development of meshed HVDC offshore grids in Europe. The project was funded in January 2016 under the EU Horizon2020 research programme, coordinated by DNV GL including 34 partners from 11 countries. The goal is to develop and demonstrate three key technologies: diode rectifier offshore converters, multi-vendor high-voltage direct current (HVDC) grid protection system, and the full power testing of HVDC circuit breakers.

CENELEC TC 8X Working Group 06 is presenting the activities of the group and some proposals for future collaboration. The presentation addresses three main topics: introduction to CLC TC 8X/WG 06, scope and present status of work and examples of topics in discussion.

We all look towards the future and believe in meshed HVDC grids!
